Just When You Thought He Was Gone, Packers Reclaim Kicker in a Move That Defies Expectations.QQ

The Packers are giving kicker Lucas Havrisik another shot – this time back on the practice squad.
Green Bay made the move official Friday, just days after waiving Havrisik from the active roster. It’s a bit of a full-circle moment for the 26-year-old, who’s been on a winding NFL journey since going undrafted out of Arizona in 2022.
Let’s break it down: Havrisik spent five seasons kicking for the Wildcats, showing off a big leg and enough upside to get noticed by multiple NFL teams, even if he didn’t hear his name called on draft day. His pro career started with a short stint on the Colts’ practice squad, but it didn’t last long. He was cut after less than a week.
Still, the Colts saw something they liked. They brought him back on a futures deal heading into 2023, only to waive him again after the preseason.
That opened the door for the Browns to scoop him up for their practice squad. From there, Havrisik was signed to the Rams’ active roster during the season – a key step in his development.
In true journeyman fashion, he returned to the Browns on another futures contract for 2024, re-signed in May, and then was released again. After a brief look with the Bills, Havrisik landed in Green Bay earlier this season.
And when he got his chance, he made it count.
In three appearances for the Packers in 2025, Havrisik went 4-for-4 on field goals and hit 7 of 9 extra points. That’s solid production for a kicker still trying to carve out a permanent spot in the league. The missed PATs are something to clean up, but the perfect field goal mark shows he’s got the poise and leg strength to compete at this level.
Bringing him back to the practice squad keeps him in the building – and in the mix – should Green Bay need to shuffle the kicking situation again. For a team that knows how valuable stability is at special teams, keeping a leg like Havrisik’s close by is a smart insurance policy.
His road hasn’t been easy, but Havrisik’s still standing – and still kicking.
