Jannik Sinner secured his second consecutive ATP Finals title by defeating Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(4), 7-5 in the summit clash on Sunday, November 16. The Italian won the year-end tournament without dropping a set.
During the trophy ceremony, the top two players, who have dominated the tour in the last two seasons, showered praise on each other.
“I played against someone who hasn’t lost a match on an indoor court in two years. That shows what a great player you are. You and your team are putting great work every time. You come back even stronger after every loss. You don’t have many but you come back stronger. Well deserved,” Alcaraz said.
The Spaniard also expressed hope to play many more finals with Sinner next season.
The Italian congratulated Alcaraz for finishing the season as the World No. 1
“Amazing season, Carlos. Amazing what you’re doing. The whole team. I know it’s a lot of work. A lot of great great memories you’ve done for your career. Well deserved for the year-end World No. 1. I’m extremely happy [for you]. If it’s another player than me, I’ll always choose you,” Sinner said.
Sinner added that Alcaraz motivates him to improve and hoped for “great battles” next year.
