Chris Stapleton Delivers Heart-Shattering Ballad “Heart Letting Go” for Netflix’s Nobody Wants This Soundtrack

Country powerhouse Chris Stapleton has joined the all-star lineup for the second season of Netflix’s hit series Nobody Wants This, contributing a soul-stirring original track titled “Heart Letting Go.”

The new season’s soundtrack features 19 original songs from artists across genres, including country standouts Kacey Musgraves and Ella Langley, but Stapleton’s contribution stands out for its emotional weight and unmistakable vocal depth.

A Song of Inevitable Goodbye

Co-written with Alan Anderson, “Heart Letting Go” captures the painful moment when two lovers realize that something vital has faded beyond repair. Stapleton delivers the story in his signature style — gravel-and-gold vocals wrapped in aching restraint — and longtime collaborator Morgane Stapleton adds her warm harmonies for that extra flicker of heartbreak that has long defined his best work.

The song may have been commissioned for television, but it feels right at home in Stapleton’s catalog. Its timeless production and raw sincerity echo the introspection of Starting Over and Traveller.

A Soundtrack With Heart and History

Nobody Wants This is loosely based on the real-life romance between Erin Foster and music executive Simon Tikhman, who also helped assemble the soundtrack through The Core Entertainment in partnership with Interscope Records.

“The fact that we were able to put together a one-of-a-kind soundtrack with incredible artists speaks to the success of the first season,” Tikhman said. “I wanted the music to reflect the same honesty, sharpness, and heart that Erin brings to the story.”

The first season of Nobody Wants This became a surprise success, earning three Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, for its unconventional and emotionally layered portrayal of love.

With the new season now streaming, fans are not only reconnecting with the show’s characters but also discovering a soundtrack that could stand alone as one of 2025’s most compelling multi-genre releases. And at its heart is Stapleton’s “Heart Letting Go” — a reminder that when it comes to channeling heartbreak into art, few do it better.
