BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A second Baton Rouge concert date for “American Idol” runner-up John Foster was added after the first show sold out in under an hour.

Foster, an 18-year-old Addis native, is set to perform at the Texas Club for two dates in August. The Texas Club posted on Facebook Thursday that a second show was scheduled after tickets for the first performance sold out in under 60 minutes. Tickets went on sale Friday morning.

The shows are scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2. Openers are Lauren Lee Band and Connor Martin. Chase Tyler will give an encore performance for the Friday show.

Foster said his appearance on “American Idol” changed his life, calling it “rocket fuel to my career” in an interview with Louisiana First New Anchor Andre Moreau. Since the singing competition show, he has hit the road to perform on stages, including the Cajun Country Jam in Denham Springs and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

His official website describes his music style as “neo-traditional,” drawing influence from famous musicians like George Strait, Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley and Willie Nelson.
