For more than two decades, “American Idol” has introduced audiences to some of the country’s brightest musical talents, and season 23 runner-up John Foster is no exception.
The country singer unveiled his new single, “Little Goes a Long Way,” on Oct. 24, and listeners are already hooked on the honky tonk tune.
‘American Idol’ Runner-up John Foster Releases Playful Country Tune
“American Idol” season 23 runner-up John Foster has officially released his upbeat new country single, “Little Goes a Long Way.” The 19 year old singer had been teasing the track on Instagram for weeks, and fans are thrilled that the day has finally arrived.
The lively song is a first for Foster, which makes it that much more special. Fans who have been following Foster since Idol know that he typically prefers to sing heartfelt, soulful country ballads, which definitely remind them of all the greats in classic country music.
Speaking about his new track, he shared (via The Advocate), “You know, it’s always a great feeling to play an original song on stage. And so now I finally, not only is it my first new release since last October, but it’s also my very first upbeat song. So it’s a super fun tune, super, like honkytonk-inspired.”
According to the outlet, Foster will perform his new record along with other tunes at Plaquemine Waterfront Park for the International Acadian Festival in Louisiana on Oct. 24. It is the same place where Foster sang during “American Idol’s” hometown visits.
Sharing the news that he will be performing back on his home turf, he wrote, “I couldn’t be more excited to be back on my home turf on October 24th as part of the International Acadian Festival. Whether you’re down the road or across the country, make your travel plans — this is the show to be at!”
Fans React to Foster’s New Song
On John Foster’s YouTube page, where he shared “Little Goes a Long Way,” fans quickly flooded the comment section, congratulating him on his first honky tonk single and gushing over how much they already love it.
“Yes! Love it, great song, waiting now for the official video as well,” a fan wrote. “Wow I love this song. I can’t wait to hear it on the radio. Great Job JF,” another comment read.
When Foster teased the song to his fans on Instagram, they were itching to hear more. “I can’t wait to hear the whole song. This song is fire has a catchy tune. Keep writing. Good job,” a fan shared. “Love this, so ready for his Album,” another fan commented.
Foster has not yet released his debut album, but it certainly feels like it’ll be here in the near future. After “American Idol” wrapped up, he teased with Lyndsanity, “I absolutely adore writing. So, I’m super-excited to actually have a full-length album, which is coming up very soon. I so wish I could give you a solid plan, but I have a very good feeling that I’ll have an album out pretty soon.”
