đ„ BREAKING NEWS: Louisianaâs John Foster Honors Maggie Dunn With a Heart-Wrenching âAmerican Idolâ Tribute That Leaves Viewers in Tears âĄML

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) â John Foster, a Louisiana native and âAmerican Idolâ contestant, delivered a heartfelt tribute Sunday night to his late friend Maggie Dunn, one of two teenage girls killed in a 2022 police pursuit crash.
Foster moved the audience with his original song, âTell That Angel I Love Her.â At the end of his performance, he said simply, âI love you, Maggie.â

Erin Martin, Dunnâs mother, described it as âthe most beautiful tribute.â
âHis performance was a tangible example of the light and love that she left behind. And for a brief few minutes, millions of Americans focused on my beautiful baby girl. Millions more will when they see the countless social media posts about his performance. I canât even fathom the magnitude of that. My prayer is that one of those millions of people is motivated by her story and has the power to effect change in how police pursuits are handled,â she said in a Facebook post.

Dunn, 17, and her classmate Caroline Gill, 15, were killed when an Addis police officer ran a red light during a high-speed chase and collided with the vehicle carrying the girls and Dunnâs 20-year-old brother, Liam, who was critically injured.
The officer, David Cauthron, has since pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter and one count of negligent injuring. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
