Rumors Swirl as the Eagles Target Two Key Positions, Leaving Fans Wondering Who Might Be on the Move.QQ

The NFL trade deadline is less than a month away, which has many wondering what the Philadelphia Eagles might do. And we can’t say they won’t do anything since Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is the king of making trades.
According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Roseman and the Eagles are in the market for either a cornerback or edge rusher, or maybe both if they can swing it.
“The Eagles are lurking in the trade market, as always. People I’ve talked to around the league believe cornerback or edge rusher (or both) could be a focus at the deadline. Keep in mind that Philly has already made several trades — acquiring corner Jakorian Bennett, wide receiver John Metchie III and running back Tank Bigsby — and those moves haven’t paid off yet.”

Eagles Could Really Use Another Cornerback and Edge Rusher
The Eagles could really use a quality cornerback and edge rusher.
They’re now seven weeks into the 2025 NFL season, and they haven’t found a reliable No. 2 cornerback. And after top cornerback Quinyon Mitchell went down with a hamstring injury last week, I think everyone really realized they have zero depth at the position.
Head coach Nick Sirianni did attempt to stick up for the guys he has on his roster, but it’s clearly just “coach speak’ to instill more confidence in them as they look to rebound from back-to-back losses.
“I think there have been elements, and periods of good football,” Sirianni said of the CB2 situation. “And, I believe in those guys. I believe in our scheme. I believe in those guys to go out there and compete and be in coverage. I think when a corner gives up a play, it can appear that it’s just on him because they’re on an island out there.”
As for the edge position, the Eagles’ depth took a hit there after Za’Darius Smith abruptly retired on Monday.
The Eagles will now be forced to turn to Joshua Uche, Jalyx Hunt, Patrick Johnson, and Azeez Ojulari to help fill Smith’s void. Those guys are good, but they’re not great. The good news is that Nolan Smith will be returning, though not soon enough.
Ideally, Roseman finds trade partners to fill both holes. But if he can’t, then I think cornerback should be the team’s top priority.
