Stephen A. Smith has sparked mixed reactions after recently calling out Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.
On the latest episode of his podcast, Straight Shooter with Stephen A., Smith blasted the Democratic Party, specifically Crockett. “How a Jasmine Crockett chooses to express herself, I’m like ‘Is that gonna help your district in Texas?’ Aren’t you there to find a way to get stuff done as opposed to just being an impediment to what Trump wants?,” Smith declared.
He mocked Crockett when sharing what he feels is a glimpse into her daily life. “How much work goes into that?,” Smith questioned. “‘I’m just gon’ go off about Trump, cuss him out every chance I get, say the most derogatory and incendiary things imaginable and that’s my day’s work.’ That ain’t work!”
Smith feels that Crockett thinks she’s “not in a position to stop [Trump] since Republicans have control of the Senate and the House,” but added that if her mentality switched to working with the President, then she can gain something for her constituents. “Maybe that just sounds ignorant because it’s so simple, but it ain’t that damn complicated. We make it complicated,” Smith added in the snippet.

In the full episode, Smith first praised Crockett. “I’m not calling her out because I don’t like her. I think Jasmine Crockett is an intelligent, accomplished woman,” he noted before reading off “numbers” that proved “Trump was doing his job” and called out those who “focus on the negative.”
Smith later expressed that he feels Black people are more emotional than factual. “What it’s really about is us not strategizing, playing checkers instead of chess, letting our emotions instead of facts lead the way and letting that guide us to express ourselves in ways that serve to alienate the very people who can help us,” he explained.
One person replied to Smith’s rant, calling him a “b***h per usual.” Someone else complimented Crockett’s work ethic while stating that Smith was “known for his loudness and apologies.” Another defended his stance on Democrats and commented on YouTube, “Dems are done- they have lost all common sense.”
Crockett has not responded to Smith’s comments, but her last tweet (which called out Trump) described herself as “An American who just wants competency over childish contemptible cowardice corruption in the White House.”
