Why Freddy Peralta Is Being Called the Orioles’ Best Trade Target ? .MH

The Baltimore Orioles are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season in 2025, one that saw them lose 18 of their first 30 games and miss the postseason.

They’ve already found their middle-of-the-order power bat in Pete Alonso, and acquired left fielder Taylor Ward from the Los Angeles Angels for right-handed starter Grayson Rodriguez.
Speaking of pitchers, the Orioles are reportedly one of the three clubs Michael King is considering, including the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

Since Corbin Burnes’ departure to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore lacks a true ace. Can they find their man through a trade?
Freddy Peralta may be a good fit with the Orioles

Right-hander Freddy Peralta will earn $8 million next season with the Milwaukee Brewers, a very modest price to pay for a fifth-place Cy Young Award finisher.
Milwaukee’s level of interest in trading the two-time All-Star is unknown, but, regardless, the rumors are swirling.
“If they’re open to dealing him, then he could be the best target for the Orioles, as long as the cost isn’t too high,” MLB.com’s Jake Rill wrote Monday.

The Orioles have two top 100 prospects in Samuel Basallo and Dylan Beavers, but Basallo just signed an eight-year contract in August, so he’s very unlikely to be involved in trade discussions.
Peralta had a 2.79 ERA in 33 starts last season and is durable, throwing 165 innings or more in three consecutive seasons.
