What Happens When Eric Church Turns a Live Show Into a Sci-Fi IMAX Epic? ‘Evangeline vs. The Machine’ Has the Answer
Country music powerhouse Eric Church is starting the summer with a bang — and a bold new release. After a four-year wait, Church returned to the spotlight with Evangeline vs. the Machine, a genre-blending album that features standout tracks like “Johnny” and “Hands of Time.” The project quickly gained traction, topping the UK Country Albums chart and reaching No. 5 on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart, reaffirming Church’s international appeal and steadfast fanbase.
Energized by the album’s success, Church launched the Free the Machine tour — a celebration of musical experimentation and personal artistry. But recognizing that not all fans can attend live performances, especially with soaring ticket prices ranging from $100 to $200, Church decided to offer a more accessible option: the IMAX concert experience.
Enter Evangeline vs. The Machine Comes Alive, a cinematic concert film recorded live at The Pinnacle in Nashville. Slated for release on February 13, 2026, in both Canada and the U.S., the film will premiere in IMAX theaters — offering fans a front-row experience for a fraction of the cost, around $30 per ticket.
In partnership with IMAX, MCA, Mercury Studios, and Q Prime South, the concert film captures the full essence of Church’s latest album. But the experience doesn’t stop there. Fans will also be treated to performances of classic Church hits, including “Sinners Like Me,” “Springsteen,” and “Desperate Man.”
Speaking about the decision to immortalize the performance on film, Church said:
“I’ve played a lot of shows. I’ve never had two nights like these where the room felt literally transported. We went to a different plane — musically, artistically, emotionally. It was unforgettable, and I’ll remember it the rest of my days.”
With Evangeline vs. The Machine Comes Alive, Church gives fans across North America a chance to witness that unforgettable moment — no tour bus or travel required. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to his music, this IMAX event offers a rare opportunity to experience Eric Church like never before.
