Vince Gill Signs $10 Million Netflix Deal — A 7-Part Journey Through Heartbreak, Faith, and the Music That Shaped America.LC

Netflix has officially announced a groundbreaking partnership with country music icon Vince Gill, sealing a $10 million deal for an exclusive seven-episode docuseries that promises to take viewers deep into the heart, history, and humanity of one of America’s most beloved artists.

Tentatively titled “Go Rest High: The Vince Gill Story,” the series will trace Gill’s journey from a young Oklahoma dreamer with a guitar to one of Nashville’s most respected and soulful voices — a man whose humility, heartbreak, and harmony have shaped over five decades of country music.

“I’ve spent my life telling stories through songs,” Gill said in a statement released by Netflix. “This time, I get to tell the story behind the songs — the people, the faith, the losses, and the love that made them.”

A Look Inside the Series

The seven-episode project will blend never-before-seen home footage, intimate interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments from the studio and stage. Viewers will also hear from family, bandmates, and close friends, including Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, Brad Paisley, and Alison Krauss, offering rare insight into the man behind the melodies.

From the heartache that inspired “Go Rest High on That Mountain” to his timeless duets and his quiet, steadfast marriage to Amy Grant, the series aims to showcase the spiritual and emotional backbone of Gill’s artistry — his compassion, humility, and resilience.

“It’s not just about fame or awards,” said executive producer Jon Meacham (who also worked with Gill on Let Freedom Ring). “It’s about how faith, loss, and integrity shape the sound of a soul.”

Music, Memory, and Meaning

Each episode will focus on a different “chapter” of Gill’s life and music:

  1. Oklahoma Beginnings – The roots of a gentle rebel.
  2. The Voice in Nashville – Breaking through the noise with heart and honesty.
  3. Loss and Legacy – The making of “Go Rest High.”
  4. The Faithful Years – Life with Amy Grant and the healing power of grace.
  5. Country’s Quiet Hero – Mentoring new artists and keeping tradition alive.
  6. Bridges and Boundaries – When faith meets fame.
  7. Rest High – A reflection on legacy, loss, and the sound of heaven.

Behind the Camera

The series will be directed by Catherine Bainbridge, known for Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World, and produced by Hello Sunshine, the storytelling company founded by Reese Witherspoon, in collaboration with Universal Music Group Nashville.

Netflix insiders describe the project as “deeply human, achingly honest, and musically transcendent” — a story not only of one artist but of American music itself.

A Moment Years in the Making

This announcement follows a resurgence of national attention around Gill, who recently joined forces with philanthropist Erika Kirk in a $50 million initiative to build homes for the homeless. His upcoming Netflix series is expected to weave in that project as part of the artist’s modern legacy — showing how his compassion and creativity continue to evolve.

“Vince’s story isn’t about celebrity,” said Witherspoon. “It’s about grace, purpose, and what it means to live a life that sings.”
