Trey Yesavage’s girlfriend pours her heart out in a moving World Series tribute after his heroic performance for the Blue Jays.NN

Trey Yesavage had girlfriend Taylor Frick in tears over his historic performance in Game 5 of the Blue Jays’ 6-1 victory against the Dodgers on Wednesday, putting Toronto one win away from the World Series title.
The 22-year-old right-handed rookie — who made his MLB debut in September — is the first player ever to record 12 strikeouts and no walks in a World Series.
Taking to her Instagram Story, Frick reposted the feat and wrote, “Still crying.”

She added, “Best day ever!!!
Frick, 23, graduated from East Carolina in May, and the couple met there. They first went public with their relationship in December 2023.
Yesavage struck out 12 batters in seven innings at Dodger Stadium to give Toronto a 3-2 series lead.
He recorded 23 swings and misses, which is the most by a pitcher in a World Series game since pitch tracking began (2008).

“Walking from the bullpen to the dugout, I took a moment to look around the stadium, see all the fans,” Yesavage said. “I was hoping I would send ’em home upset.”
That’s exactly what he did as the Blue Jays have recaptured momentum in the World Series with back-to-back wins after dropping the 18-inning Game 3 classic on Monday.

Yesavage, who was the No. 20 pick in last year’s draft, pitched effectively in Game 1 of the series as well, allowing two runs over four innings.

With 39 strikeouts this postseason thus far, including a dominant ALDS performance against the Yankees, Yesavage has the most by a rookie in a single postseason ever, passing Michael Wacha back in 2013.
Game 6 of the World Series between the reigning champion Dodgers and the Blue Jays shifts to Toronto Friday at Rogers Centre.
