Key Points

  • The View hosts will skip dressing up for Halloween costumes for the second year.
  • Political climate influenced their decision last year as their focus is on informing the public.
  • Hosts will do the “Boo Are You Wearing?” segment and other Halloween activities.

The View co-hosts are skipping the Halloween tradition of dressing up once again.

Joy BeharWhoopi GoldbergSara HainesSunny HostinAna Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin won’t be in costume for the second year in a row, but they will still be doing another The View tradition.

Last year, the hosts opted out of the Halloween tradition because it was so close to the extremely heated presidential election between Kamala Harris and President Donald Trump. According to Entertainment Weekly, the women have decided to go the no-costume route again.

At the time, Behar declared on The View: Behind the Table that the political climate wastoo important and that the hosts needed to use their time on stage to “inform the public about how dangerous Trump is.” Based on her remark, the current political climate likely impacted the hosts’ decision not to dress up.

Just because they aren’t dressing in costume doesn’t mean The View co-hosts won’t be in the Halloween spirit. The women will participate in their annual “Boo Are You Wearing?” segment during the hot topics section. “Boo Are You Wearing?” features The View’s wardrobe dressing up children as various hot topics from the year.

There should be other Halloween-inspired activities too, even though the hosts won’t be in costume. Actress Ariana DeBose is slated to be a guest on Friday, Oct. 31, where she will talk about her new off-Broadway show, The Baker’Wife, with Scott Bakula.

Goldberg will be off on Halloween simply because she never works Fridays. Behar, Griffin, Haines, Hostin, and Navarro will be there to chat with DeBose and to discuss hot topics.

The View women may not be dressing up, but there will be plenty of shows that have their hosts in costume. In the past, LIVE with Kelly and MarkThe Kelly Clarkson Show, and Today have all rocked amazing costumes to get in the Halloween spirit.

The View airs weekdays on ABC.
