The Philadelphia Eagles are attempting to put to rest a two-decade trend in the NFC East this season. As half of the division is headed toward a top ten pick, Philly has truly only had to worry about the Dallas Cowboys for a bulk of this season when it comes to the division crown.

After the latest clashes for each team, Philadelphia has a massive upper hand to keep the division title in town. They’re trending toward clinching a playoff berth by winning the NFC East after a bit of help.

Eagles’ magic number sits at one after fifteen weeks

With the Eagles’ win over the Raiders, accompanied by the Vikings victory over the Cowboys, Philadelphia must just win one more game in order to clinch the NFC East. On the flip-side, they can also clinch the division with one more Dallas loss. Either way, the Eagles will wear the division’s crown for the second consecutive season.

With that, the Eagles could send a nice thank-you card to Minnesota for doing them a favor. Philly took care of business in their shutout win in Week 15, but they were also probably rooting plenty for the Cowboys to suffer another loss. Now, all of the pressure is on Dallas to play nearly perfect football to end the season and hope the Eagles slip up every single week.

While not impossible, those odds heavily swing in the Eagles’ favor. The Cowboys have now lost two games in a row after a three-game winning streak that made plenty of Eagles fans nervous. The Vikings had lost four of their last five before beating Dallas.

The Eagles have two matchups with a struggling Washington Commanders squad over the final three weeks of the campaign. They will also face the Buffalo Bills in Week 17. For Dallas, they play the Los Angeles Chargers, Commanders, and New York Giants to finish their regular season play.
