The 49ers’ 2026 mock draft just revealed a bold move to secure Brock Purdy’s future by adding the perfect successor to take the pressure off him.QQ

A new 2026 NFL 3-round mock draft has the 49ers finding Trent Williams’ future successor in a player who, at one point, was viewed as a top ten pick.

The 2025 San Francisco 49ers have exemplified resilience. They’ve lost so many key players to injuries this year and yet still sit at 9-4. They are third in the NFC West but are holding on to the sixth spot in the NFC playoff picture.
The upcoming 2026 NFL Draft will be interesting for the 49ers, as they could address an immediate need or look to be proactive and have options behind aging veterans. In a new A to Z Sports three-round mock draft, the team takes that second approach and lands a player who, at one point, many believed would be a top ten pick.
49ers select Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor in a new mock draft
“Kadyn Proctor is far from a perfect prospect, and his flaws have been exposed at times this year at Alabama. The 49ers wouldn’t have to rush him on the field though and he could learn behind Trent Williams. Could be a perfect spot for him to start his career.”

Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, ahead of the year, was viewed as a candidate to be the first offensive lineman drafted. Some even viewed him as a potential number one overall pick. This year hasn’t gone great for him, though, and his flaws showing up more and more have led him to fall down many draft analysts’ boards. Proctor wouldn’t be asked to start right away and would be able to work on his footwork in pass protection early on.
He’d be able to sit and watch future Hall of Famer Trent Williams on and off the field. There aren’t many better options a young tackle could watch as they try to develop on the sideline. It may initially hurt Proctor’s morale to start his NFL career on the bench, but I honestly think this might just be the perfect spot for him to develop into the player many believe he can become. This would give the 49ers a great plan to protect Brock Purdy long-term, even after Williams’ time in the NFL comes to an end.
