The wait is over: Rodeo Houston unveils the opening acts that will set the tone for Cody Johnson’s 2026 concert. ML

Country singer Cody Johnson, announced as the closing performer for the 2026 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, will be joined by Jon Pardi and Randy Houser as his opening acts for the March 22 concert. The addition of these well-known artists makes what was already a highly anticipated event even more special.

Jon Pardi, who has performed at the Houston Rodeo previously in 2025, is known for popular songs such as “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt on My Boots.” Randy Houser is also a respected name in country music, with hits like “How Country Feels” and “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight,” and a background as a songwriter for artists like Miranda Lambert.

Johnson has performed at the Houston Rodeo five times and will be the first artist since George Strait in 2022 to play a full concert at the event. His song “Welcome to the Show” has served as the official theme of the rodeo since 2019.

This announcement comes shortly after Johnson’s health problems forced him to cancel the rest of his 2025 tour. On October 7, Johnson revealed on Instagram that he suffered a ruptured eardrum that required surgery, a complication from a severe respiratory infection.

Reports suggest Johnson is on course for a full recovery and plans to return to performing in 2026, promising fans a memorable rodeo closing concert featuring him and his supporting acts.
