The Kansas City Chiefs have won four of their last five games.

After an 0-2 start, they got on the board with a bit of an ugly win over the New York Giants. The Chiefs then exploded in Week 4, beating the Baltimore Ravens 37-20. In Week 6 they defeated the Detroit Lions, who was the hottest team in the NFL at the time, 30-17.

On Sunday Kansas City improved to 4-3 with a 31-0 blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs are averaging 32 points per game over the last four weeks, and has allowed over 20 points just twice this season. Despite the run of recent success, quarterback Patrick Mahomes is staying focused on long-term vision.

The New York Jets MUST TRADE Breece Hall at the deadline

Patrick Mahomes is keeping the Chiefs focused on the future

“I think there’s been points throughout these last few years, but I think this is probably the most consistent that we’ve been able to play and stack games together,” Mahomes said on the team playing well on both sides of the ball at the same time.

“Obviously our record’s still not where we want it to be, but you can see from offense to defense, we’ve had bright moments in this season, and now it seems like we’re coming together as a team. That’s what you want to do, is be a team as the season goes on that keeps getting better. We’re still early. We got everything out in front of us. How can we be better this next week, going up against good football team?”

It would serve the Chiefs well to not get complacent, because they have a brutal schedule ahead of them. Next week they will host the upstart Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football, then head to Buffalo to take on the Bills, whom they haven’t beaten during the regular season in their last four tries.

K.C. then has its bye-week, then a tough road matchup against the current AFC West leading Denver Broncos. Things don’t get any easier after that, as the Chiefs will host the Indianapolis Colts, who currently own the best record in the NFL, in Week 12. The Chiefs must keep their momentum going if they’re going to win their 10th consecutive division title.
