Cody Johnson Just Canceled Every 2025 Show—and the Reason Has Fans Asking Hard Questions. ML

Cody Johnson Shares Health Update After Emergency Surgery

In an emotional statement posted on social media, country music star Cody Johnson opened up about a serious health issue that has forced him to cancel the remainder of his 2025 tour dates.

“It is with a very heavy heart I have to share that the rest of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen,” Johnson wrote. “While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my eardrum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery.”

The Texas native explained that the healing process is expected to take many weeks, and he won’t be able to sing or return to the stage during this time. However, Johnson remains hopeful that by acting quickly, he can avoid further complications and shorten his recovery.

“Without the surgery, my downtime could stretch into months,” he said. “I’m praying for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love. Thank you, COJO Nation, for the love and support — now and always.”

Fans who have purchased tickets for upcoming shows were advised to watch for updates via email from ticket providers regarding refunds or rescheduling.

The news comes shortly after Johnson teased a new project in the studio, posting a photo with the caption: “Been working on something for y’all.” But for now, all plans have been put on hold as he focuses on recovery.

Johnson had been scheduled to resume his tour on October 18 in Pittsburgh, PA, with additional dates in Alabama, Louisiana, Arizona, and Nevada. He has already rescheduled two previously canceled shows in Columbus, OH, which will now take place on July 11 and July 17, 2026.

While an exact return date is uncertain, Johnson’s first scheduled performance for 2026 is set for February 14 in Louisville, KY. He is also slated to headline the 2026 Stagecoach Festival, alongside Lainey Wilson and Post Malone.

Post-Surgery Update: “I’ll Be Back”

Just hours after sharing the difficult news, Cody Johnson returned to Instagram with a video message from his home in Texas, giving fans a positive update following surgery.

“Hey y’all. I just got home from my surgery in Houston. Got the nice little patch on my ear,” he said, showing off his bandaged ear. “Doctor said the surgery went great. I should make a full recovery with the proper rehab. I’ve got a lot of follow-up appointments ahead.”

He also took time to thank fans for the overwhelming support:

“Thank you for all the texts, calls, prayer requests, and good wishes. I’ve really felt the love. I’m going to do my best to rest up, recharge, and I can’t wait to see you all in 2026.”
