The Philadelphia Eagles are not shying away from the frustration that is crystal clear amongst their fan base. The offense doesn’t look as efficient, exciting, or explosive as a season ago, and Nick Sirianni’s decision to hand play-calling to Kevin Patullo is catching a ton of flak. Now, the head coach may be teetering on trying to prevent a late-season collapse on that side of the ball.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, the Eagles head coach was more involved in offensive preparations ahead of the team’s Week 14 Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. What exactly does that mean, though? Could he call plays in the future or find someone else to do so?

According to McManus, it was more so in the staff’s preparation for players, rather than on-field adjustments. Sirianni had a bigger voice in the room as the offense tries to get back on track – it appears.
“Sirianni has been more vocal in offensive meetings and has been presenting material alongside offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, sources said. According to one source, he has been addressing the group for longer than usual at the top of the meetings before ceding to Patullo, who continues to run them.” — Tim McManus, ESPN
Clearly, the murmurs from fans and media alike regarding Patullo’s play calling has also been a thought process for the head coach and potentially even the front office. There is no doubt that the coaching staff is feeling the pressure right now, with the consistent offensive struggles for much of this season.
The Eagles have lost their last two games, and neither offensive performance has been impressive in any form or fashion. The passing game feels limited, and Saquon Barkley has been bottled up. The running part of Jalen Hurts’ game is nearly nonexistent as of now. Philly has averaged 15.5 points over their last four games.
