NBC Just Crowned Its Brand Billboard Contest Winner—And Their Name Feels Almost Too Perfect.NH

The winner for NBC’s billboard contest is very “On Brand.”

Today, NBC revealed the winner of its billboard design contest in honor of its new advertising competition show, On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. The contest, announced by Fallon in September, leaned into the On Brand concept that big ideas can come from anyone and invited viewers to submit their own designs for an On Brand billboard, with the winning design appearing on a billboard in Los Angeles.

On Brand with Jimmy Fallon is wrapping up its first season.

Now, Fallon and his On Brand co-host, Bozoma Saint John, have selected the winner for the contest, and, fittingly, their name is also Brand.

Below, ADWEEK can exclusively reveal the winning design, submitted by Kayla Brand from Wall, N.J.:

Brand told ADWEEK that the submission, which showcases Post-it notes from an apparent brainstorm, was meant to capture the “energy” of early ideation, with sparks of inspiration becoming bigger ideas.

“This billboard won because it instantly captured the creative chaos and collaboration that fuels every marketer’s process,” Saint John told ADWEEK in a statement. “The colorful sticky notes represent the brainstorms, debates, and wild ideas that happen before brilliance strikes; and placing the On Brand logo right at the center made it clear: This show is where ideas come to life.”

Brand’s design, which was selected from more than 1,000 entries, was created in Canva and will be live on Oct. 29 on the NBC Videotron on Sunset Boulevard (8410 W Sunset Boulevard). As part of the contest, Brand also wins a trip to New York and two tickets to see The Tonight Show.

“I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to submit my idea and proud to see my design come to life on this scale,” Brand said.

The announcement comes as Fallon and Saint John are wrapping up Season 1 of On Brand, which will reveal its winner during the finale on Friday, Oct. 31.

ADWEEK met Fallon in NYC to discuss how the late-night host mixes family-friendly comedy, cringe, and campaigns in On Brand and takes on TV
