Cowboys Fans on Edge as Seven Key Players Land on the Questionable List Ahead of Panthers Clash

3:00 p.m. — Seven Cowboys players are questionable for Dallas’ Week 6 game on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. On the official injury report is CB DaRon Bland (shoulder), CB Caelen Carson (knee), OT Ajani Cornelius (knee), CB Trevon Diggs (knee), DE Marshawn Kneeland (ankle), WR Jonathan Mingo (knee) and OG Tyler Smith (knee).
Five players are ruled out, including OG Tyler Booker (ankle), WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle), WR KaVontae Turpin (foot), LB Jack Sanborn (concussion) and RB Miles Sanders (knee/ankle), who Cowboys COO/co-owner Stephen Jones announced would be placed on season-ending injured reserve on Friday during an interview with 105.3 The Fan.
It’s certainly a long list for Dallas, but one of the good pieces of news is that OT Tyler Guyton (concussion) carries no injury designation and is set to start at left tackle for the Cowboys. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said earlier on Friday that Guyton and Tyler Smith were both trending positively towards playing on Sunday.
On Carolina’s side, they’ll be without RB Chuba Hubbard (calf), CB Akayleb Evans (hamstring), OT Taylor Moton (elbow) and DT Turk Wharton (toe). With Hubbard out, former Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle is slated to get a majority of the carries this week for the Panthers as he faces off against his former team.

Tyler Guyton
- Height: 6-7
- Weight: 322 lbs
- College: Oklahoma
10:45 a.m. — After being cleared from concussion protocol yesterday, Cowboys LT Tyler Guyton is expected to re-enter the starting lineup on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, per owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
“It’s likely that he’ll be in there absent some setback here these next couple of days.” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan.
Jones did add that it’s also likely a lot of the same depth players that started for the Cowboys last week will still play against Carolina Sunday because they don’t have everybody back just yet, and they’ll need to dress out some extra players, including potentially an extra offensive linemen.

Dante Fowler Jr.
#13 DE
- Height: 6-3
- Weight: 261 lbs
- College: Florida
3:30 p.m. — Dante Fowler is coming off of his best game of the season thus far in his return to the Cowboys, but he’s now dealing with illness that sidelined him and kept him out of Thursday’s practice.
The veteran pass rusher still has time to recover and potentially make the trip to face the Carolina Panthers, but his status is currently to-be-determined, as is that of Miles Sanders, who was downgraded to DNP in his second practice of the week — having been inactive against the Jets due to a knee and ankle injury.
Donovan Wilson, however, returned to practice after being absent on Wednesday with an elbow and knee issue, in a limited capacity, and starting left tackle Tyler Guyton officially cleared concussion protocol and, as such, was a full participant with medical clearance to travel and take the field.
The good news continues in that Marshawn Kneeland practiced for a second day in a row, albeit limited, after missing last week’s victory over the Jets with an ankle injury.

KaVontae Turpin
#9 WR
- Height: 5-9
- Weight: 153 lbs
- College: TCU
3:30 p.m. — It could be at least one more week before KaVontae Turpin is back on the field for the Cowboys.
The All-Pro returner and dynamic wide receiver missed the Week 5 contest against the Jets with a foot injury, and he’s not yet up to full speed as of Wednesday, labeling himself as “day to day” and stating the likelihood is he’ll miss this weekend’s matchup with an eye on returning against the Commanders in Week 6.
Donovan Wilson appeared on this week’s injury report with an elbow and knee issue that caused him to miss practice, sidelined along with CeeDee Lamb, Tyler Booker and Jack Sanborn, the latter suffering a concussion against the Jets.
Returning to practice was Tyler Guyton, however, as he works to clear concussion protocol — limited on Wednesday in his first on-field action since entering the protocol during the eventual tie with the Packers in Week 4.

Julius Wood
- Height: 6-1
- Weight: 193 lbs
- College: East Carolina
10:30 a.m. — A somewhat familiar face is on its way back to Dallas to join the Cowboys at a position of need.
Julius Wood has been signed to the team’s practice squad as they begin preparation to face the Carolina Panthers, an area of the country Wood is extremely familiar with from his collegiate playing days.
An East Carolina product signed initially as an undrafted free agent by the Cowboys in 2024 following that year’s NFL Draft, Wood re-enters the team’s roster after veteran safety Malik Hooker was moved to injured reserve a few days prior, opening up a need for depth and insurance at the position.
An ex-teammate of rookie third-round pick Shavon Revel at East Carolina, Wood made waves in his rookie training camp before narrowly becoming a casualty in final roster cutdowns, claimed by the Titans following his release from Dallas, but he’ll get another shot in 2025.
