Jordan Mailata breaks silence to back a teammate everyone else counted out — and fans are stunned by his words.

Hopefully, one day someone will develop a Jordan Mailata movie. Now, that’s something we’d pay to see. His origin story with the Philadelphia Eagles is the stuff of Hollywood scripts.

No, on second thought, it’s better than that. Mailata’s story is so good that, if it were taken to Hollywood, it would be tossed out for one reason. It doesn’t seem realistic. A rugby star who never played American football lands in the United States and helps an NFL team win a Super Bowl.

Welp! That’s what happened, and that’s why we love this game. It’s unpredictable. Mailata is now a team captain, and recently, he took full advantage of an opportunity. He took some time to instill confidence in a teammate, like former teammates once did for him.

Yep. Brett Toth needed that. He has endured his share of criticism. There’s no need to call out anyone, but there were conversations about whether or not he could snap the ball appropriately if Jalen Hurts lines up in shotgun formation.

“We knew what we had to do man, When we have these off-the-record talks with some of you guys and we talk about Brett, about what he means to this team, the patience that he has, just waiting in the water and capitalizing on his opportunity at center… We knew he’s a center. The last two weeks, I thought he’s put up two great games back to back, And, [it’s no surprise] because we just knew what we have in the player we have in Brett and what he was able to do. We talk about his big brain and how he’s able to make those calls with all the unique fronts that we’re getting, putting everyone on the same call. We always talk about the communication that was part of the issues going the first six weeks we had. Vommunication was part of it. Execution was part of it, and today, I think it was just a clean game from Brett where we all knew where the point was. So, like I say [it was] just a great game from Brett”

Those were Captain Mailata’s words following Philadelphia’s Week 8 win. During his Jordan Mailata Show on 94 WIP-FM, he shared a story about meeting his teammate.

Make no mistake. Cam Jurgens hasn’t lost his job, and the starting center’s role will be his when he’s ready to play and is cleared for contact, but it’s nice to see Toth perform well. It’s nice to hear the vote of confidence from one of the Eagles’ leaders.

It looks like the O-line might be a little deeper than we were previously informed. That’s a good thing because, as the old saying goes, teams can never have too many good offensive linemen.
