John Foster, Fresh Off Idol, Drops Major Career Announcement — and Fans Are Fired Up.ML

John Foster, the “American Idol” season 23 runner-up is sharing news that he calls “some of the most exciting of my career.” The 19-year-old country crooner announced that he will be performing at the 2026 Rose Parade, representing Louisiana.
Foster made the announcement in a video posted to the Explore Louisiana Instagram page. Foster prefaced his news with a story.
“Really early on in my music career, probably early 2023, I can remember seeing Lainey Wilson representing Louisiana at the Rose Parade and thinking, ‘Man that would be really cool,” the singer shared.
Foster went on to say he was “beyond excited” to be performing in the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, an annual New Year’s Day tradition. “Representing my home state is such an honor,” the Addis, LA native continued. “Y’all know by now that I love the food, the music, the culture. They all combine to make such a beautiful place.”
John Foster Is Deeply Proud of His Louisiana Roots

Foster made a name for himself as a contestant on “American Idol” and his career has been skyrocketing ever since competing on the show. The singer has performed at the Grand Ole Opry three times this summer, and has another performance scheduled at the venue in September.
As his star continues to rise, it’s clear he has not forgotten his Louisiana roots. He even credits his home state with influencing his sound. “There’s factors that are from my Louisiana heritage,” Foster explained during an interview on the “Fable House” podcast. “Just certain phrases that I may say … I can even play my guitar in certain ways,” he shared.
“There’s a special way of living that is from Louisiana,” Foster continued. “And that’s carried with me.” He also shared that he’s gotten so much support from his hometown community. “I think that’s one of the main reasons that I’m standing before you today,” he said.
Foster Joins an Esteemed Group of Musicians

The Rose Parade is a tradition that dates back to 1890 and features floats, marching bands, and other musical performances.
Foster mentioned watching Lainey Wilson performing in the parade, and there have been many other musicians who have shared in the honor. An array of impressive performers such as Aloe Blacc, Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams, and ’80s pop star Debbie Gibson have performed at the event in recent years.
There have been plenty of “American Idol” alums who have also performed in the Rose Parade, including David Archuleta, Kellie Pickler, and Jordin Sparks.
