Dak Prescott has been the face of the Dallas Cowboys for a long time.

As he excels in the 10th year of his career, he’s arguably playing the best football of his career. Beyond his strong quarterback play, his leadership could be his best attribute. Just ask Jerry Jones.

“A lot of what makes Dak Dak is what he does to the team, not just his play, not just his responsibility in the play, but it’s what he’s done to prepare the team, not only at his duties at quarterback, but what he’s done to prepare the team as well as provide a unique leadership,” Jones said in an interview on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). “He’s the best leader, frankly, that I think I’ve ever been around.”

That’s some lofty praise for his quarterback, considering Dallas legends like Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith have played for the Cowboys under Jones.

A look at the milestones Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is approaching during the 2025 season

“What I heard time and time again from coaches that have been here, that are not here any longer, is that Dak raises the level of everybody around him better than anybody they’ve ever seen,” Jones continued.

Jerry’s son Stephen Jones had some similar praise for the Cowboys quarterback.

“He’s always been the Pied Piper of this team,” he said. “He’s got amazing leadership skills. He’s quite an amazing man off the field, but what a hell of a year he’s having so far.”

Through his first five games of the season, Prescott has thrown for 1,356 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing 71.3% of his passes. Even though Dallas is off to just a 2-2-1 start, it would be much worse without Prescott’s play given the immense struggles of the Dallas defense.

He’ll look to keep his early-season MVP buzz going on Sunday when the Cowboys take on the Panthers as Dallas looks to climb above .500 on the year.
