Parsons went down with a torn ACL against the Denver Broncos. The non-contact injury ended his season in the third quarter, and suddenly, Jones’s controversial decision looks like a masterstroke. Dallas Nation is saying they dodged a bullet by trading Parsons before giving him a massive long-term deal.

Micah Parsons Suffers a Season-Ending Injury

The Packers’ Super Bowl hopes took a devastating hit Sunday afternoon at Mile High. Parsons crumpled to the turf while rushing Bo Nix, immediately grabbing his left knee.

Parsons made history in his first year with the Packers. He became the only player ever to record 12-plus sacks in his first five NFL seasons. The 26-year-old was everything Green Bay hoped for when they sent Kenny Clark and two first-rounders to Dallas.

Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur didn’t sugarcoat it after the loss, penning, “It doesn’t look good. I’ll leave it at that.” They dropped to 9-4-1 after this 34-26 loss, falling behind the Chicago Bears in the NFC North race. And now Parsons’ season-ending injury added insult to the injury. He’ll miss the playoffs for sure and potentially the entire 2026.

The Cowboys owner was widely criticized for breaking up the team’s core, with many saying he was closing a championship window after trading Parson to the Packers. At the time, the decision looked increasingly questionable, especially as Dallas struggled to replace Parsons’s production.

Jones, however, remained focused on the long-term risk of paying elite defenders massive contracts. He had seen how quickly those deals can turn bad when injuries attack the locker room.

By trading Parsons at peak value, the Cowboys avoided that risk, and fans are feeling it now.

Fans React to Jerry Jones Vindication

The football world flipped its script on Jones after Parsons is done for the season. Fans who roasted the trade are now giving the Cowboys owner his deserved flowers.

One fan acknowledged, “Feel bad for the guy, but seems like Jerry got the better end of the trade.”

Another noted, “Jerry Jones was RIGHT!!! Cowboys gonna win SNF.”

A third fan added, “Won’t be the same player coming back. Smart move Jerry.”

The fourth one claimed, “Lotta people owe Jerry Jones an apology.”

The fifth user remarked, “Gotta give Jerry credit for that trade now.”

Cowboys received immediate value from the revamp. They used one of the picks in trades that improved their roster. Clark provides interior pressure despite diminished production in 2024.

The second first-rounder gives Dallas flexibility in the coming 2026 NFL draft. More importantly, the Cowboys avoided paying $188 million to an injured star. Given the current situation, fans had no choice but to apologize to the 83-year-old mastermind.
