It’s More Than a Concert—George Strait’s Clemson Teaser Feels Like the Start of Something Special. ML
Country legend George Strait will perform at Clemson Memorial Stadium on May 2, 2026, marking the first concert held at the venue in nearly three decades, the university announced this week.
Strait will be joined by Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores in what Clemson officials expect to draw approximately 90,000 attendees. Early access for tickets opens October 27, with general sales following shortly after.
The event marks Strait’s return to the same venue where he headlined the George Strait Country Music Festival in 1999 — a show that featured Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks, Jo Dee Messina, Kenny Chesney, and others. Following that performance, Clemson officials decided to restrict the stadium’s use primarily to athletics.
The 2026 concert is part of a new initiative by Clemson Athletic Ventures and Does Entertainment to bring live music back to the 81,000-seat stadium, known to fans as “Death Valley.”
Over the years, Clemson Memorial Stadium has hosted major acts including The Rolling Stones (1989), Pink Floyd (1994), Billy Joel and Elton John (1995), and The Eagles (1996).
Fans have already expressed excitement online about Strait’s upcoming performance, calling it “an unforgettable homecoming” and “a full-circle moment.”
Tickets will be available for purchase soon, and demand is expected to be extremely high.
