If you want the Dallas Cowboys to clinch the playoffs, these are the teams you absolutely need cheering for this Week 14.QQ

The Dallas Cowboys’ playoff chances are nearing zero percent. But this could help in Week 14.

Even after an underwhelming defeat on Thursday Night Football, the Dallas Cowboys are still in it. Now, I personally would advise against getting your hopes up. Their playoff odds sit at 8%. They’ll need to win out plus get plenty of hope from opposing NFL teams.

Nevertheless, sports fans will be sports fans. And I know many aren’t ready to extinguish the hope of the postseason, nor to make plans in January. So to those fans, here’s a Cowboys rooting guide for Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season.

In Week 14, the Cowboys need to root for these outcomes:

Philadelphia Eagles lose to Los Angeles Chargers

There’s no question the Cowboys’ likeliest path to a playoff berth goes through the NFC East, even if it isn’t likely. If the Cowboys win out, the Eagles would need to lose three of their final five games to win the division. Obviously, that’s asking for a lot. But if you’re looking for hope, Philly’s best defender, DT Jalen Carter, is week-to-week and will miss Monday night’s showdown vs. the Chargers.

Not to mention, the struggles persist for the Eagles’ offense. This could very well be a team on the brink of collapse. And yet, it’s a talented group that could turn it on at any moment and remind the NFL world why they’re the defending Super Bowl champs.

Atlanta Falcons over Seattle Seahawks

I mean… I don’t see the Seattle Seahawks going 1-4 in their final five games, but if they did, the Cowboys could match them at 10 wins. A tie against the Green Bay Packers would give them the nod in the wild-card race. However, the Seahawks have been one of the best teams in the NFC thanks to a remarkable defense.

That said, it’s not an easy schedule for the Seahawks moving forward. After a Falcons matchup in Week 14, they get the Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers (road), and San Francisco 49ers (road).

Green Bay Packers over Chicago Bears (kind of, this is a tricky one)

This isn’t as straightforward as it seems, but hear me out. The Cowboys need one of these teams to go 1-4 to have a chance to match them in wins. And over the next three weeks, they face each other twice. What Dallas needs is one side to sweep the other.

And in my view, the Bears are more likely to collapse than the Packers are. The reason is that their defense is one of the worst in the NFL when it can’t take the ball away. Green Bay looks like a much better team. Chicago has two games against the Packers, one against the Cleveland Browns, another at San Francisco, and will close out at home vs. the Lions. It’s unlikely they finish the season 1-4, but it could happen.

In addition, matching the Bears in wins would give the Cowboys the nod thanks to their tie, while matching the Packers would mean they have the same win percentage, taking things to the tiebreakers. I’ll be rooting for Green Bay on Sunday, but what matters is that one of the two sides sweeps the other.
