Following rumors that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been interested in adding a wide receiver to help bolster the receiving game for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the team did just that on Monday.

Following their Sunday Night Football loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Steelers went ahead and added wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Monday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported.

He will join a Steelers wide receiver room that includes DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, and more.

Who is Marquez Valdes-Scantling?

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, 31, began the 2025 regular season as part of the San Francisco 49ers. Following a stint on injured reserve with a quad injury, the wideout got healthy and was released by the 49ers earlier this month.

He will now join his third organization this season after signing a one-year, $4 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks and getting released before the start of the regular season.

The veteran wideout has already built chemistry with Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as the two played together with the Green Bay Packers from 2018 to 2021, where they linked together for 13 touchdowns during their tenure.

In eight NFL seasons, Valdes-Scantling has 209 receptions, 3,606 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns in his career. He will most likely start on the Steelers’ practice squad, sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
