Gwen Stefani opens up about the “blessing” behind her holiday plans with Blake Shelton, and fans can feel the joy in every word.ML

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton know how to make it feel like Christmas.

After all, the No Doubt frontwoman shared insight into her and the country singer’s jet-setting holiday plans this season.

“Blake and I, we just bounce back and forth between Oklahoma constantly,” Gwen explained on the Dec. 4 episode of Today. “This December, we’re going back there and then we’re gonna bounce back to L.A.”

Indeed, the couple, who split their time between the Southwest state and California, love making a sweet escape for the holidays—even for a little bit.

“We just had Thanksgiving,” she said. “We had two of them. It’s been a blessing to be able to do that. We’ll do more of the bouncing back and forth, back and forth. I love it. Oklahoma, this time of year, is the best. It’s so beautiful.”

And it’s no surprise that Gwen—who shares kids Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 11, with ex Gavin Rossdale—and Blake, 49, are embracing the Yuletide spirit. In fact, it’s what led to their hit 2017 song “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”

“Blake and I are big Christmas music fans,” she explained in a 2022 Vevo Footnotes interview. “Blake originally sent me a voice note of him playing the song on his guitar. Once we finished writing it, we knew it had to be a duet.”

“I’ve always loved Christmas,” the 56-year-old continued. “It’s such a magical time. The idea of getting to be a part of people’s holidays through music is one of the greatest gifts. Christmas music lives forever.”

This year, the “Rich Girl” was ready to holla back to her love for holiday songs, with her releasing songs “Hot Cocoa” and “Shake the Snow Globe,” the latter of which she debuted for the Prime Video film Oh. What. Fun.

As for what inspired her latest holly, jolly tunes, which she performed at the 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 3?

“I was trying to think of a new way to say a Christmas song,” Gwen told KOST 103.5 in November. “I don’t remember anyone talking about the snow globes very much.”

So, she thought, “I’m going to have a snow globe moment here.”

Plus, Christmas music hits differently than any other genre, according to the Grammy winner.

“When Christmas comes around, you feel so nostalgic and so like those songs are part of your life,” Gwen added. “I think regular albums do that as well, but with this, you only get to hear it that one time of year, so it makes it even more special or something. You miss it more.”

Let the Rumors Begin

“I think he’s hot, don’t you? But to be super honest, it is kind of crazy we both went through the same thing at the same time. There’s been so many people that I’ve gotten so much comfort from. Just people coming to me and telling me their story. Not confiding, but sharing, which has just helped me see things from a different perspective and move forward.” —Gwen to Ryan Seacrest in November 2015
