Willie Nelson Urges Fans to Ignore “Those AI Death Stories,” Setting the Record Straight With Classic Texas Humor. ML

Willie Nelson isn’t dead, no matter how many times the AI bots try to convince you otherwise.

Travis Kelce ‘lives his life the right way’

Given that he is 92 years old, it’s easy to get fooled by the false death stories about Nelson that AI helps circulate online. But “Shotgun Willie” sent a humorous message on his Instagram to show fans that he’s keeping the Grim Reaper at arm’s length.

Willie Nelson Takes Aim at the AI Bots

The post includes photos of Nelson sitting in a chair. Taken by photographer Chris Buck, the one in the upper left corner shows the “Always On My Mind” singer with his eyes closed. However, his eyes gradually open in the other photos.

The pic in the bottom-right corner shows Nelson staring straight into the lens, as if he were gazing into Death itself.

The carousel of photos continues to zoom in on that bottom-right pic. No matter which way you look, Nelson is looking right at you, proving to the viewer that he is very much alive and well.

The caption reads, “If you believe those AI death stories one more time…”

Given that AI has come for Nelson’s soul many times, this is a humorous yet powerful statement about how it makes it harder to tell what’s true online.

In July, the Outlaw Music Festival, which was headlined by Nelson and Bob Dylan, had to cancel a date due to extreme weather. But an AI-generated fake post claimed that Nelson was in the hospital after collapsing and that he wouldn’t make the festival’s next date on July 4.

Nelson then commented on the fake message:

“LOL what a joke – anyways see y’all at 4th of July picnic tomorrow.”

Yep, Nelson does his own fact-checking.

Then in October, Nelson demonstrated his wit once again on social media, this time putting the IRS on his “Bitin’ List” by posting the cover of his 1991 double-album The IRS Tapes: Who’ll Buy My Memories?

The album was part of a deal with the government agency to pay the $16.7 million in back taxes he owed. It knocked out nearly $4 million of his debt.
