Country icon George Strait just sent his fans into a frenzy with a single vintage post — and one big clue.

On Instagram, the “King of Country” shared a throwback poster advertising the Nokia Presents the George Strait Chevy Truck Music Festival, a late-’90s touring event that featured Strait alongside some of country’s biggest names of the era, including Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks, Kenny ChesneyMark Wills, Asleep at the Wheel and Jo Dee Messina.

Strait captioned the post, “Gearing up for a 2026 announcement. Here’s a clue! Let us know your guess in the comments.”

“STRAIT FESTTTTTTTT PLEASEEEEEEEEEE,” begged a third.

And one fan summed up the collective excitement (and financial reality) with, “I might have to sell a kidney to get a ticket, but if George and Tim are touring together in 2026…I might be losing a kidney soon!!!! 😍😂.”

A Look Back at the George Strait Chevy Truck Music Festival

Strait first launched the George Strait Country Music Festival in 1998 after hosting several successful one-day festivals across Texas. That inaugural nationwide tour included a massive lineup and introduced fans to “StraitLand,” a fair-like atmosphere complete with food, games, vendor booths and live performances from up-and-coming acts on side stages.

A 1998 description on Strait’s official website reads, “In addition to the tremendous line-up of talent, the festival will also feature ‘StraitLand,’ a fair-like atmosphere outside the arena where fans can spend time before the show and during set changes. StraitLand will consist of exhibitors booths, games, food, and two stages that will feature new national country music acts.”

The concept proved wildly successful, drawing record crowds across the country through the late ’90s and early 2000s. The 1999 edition, featured in Strait’s recent post, is still remembered by many fans as one of the greatest live country tours ever assembled.

Between the nostalgic poster, the “gearing up for a 2026 announcement” tease, and the all-caps excitement filling his comment section, it’s clear fans are ready for another Strait Fest moment in the making.
