Everyone Hears His Voice on Stage—But Only One Woman Knows the Story Behind Every Note John Foster Sings. ML

John Foster Says His Mom Is the True Star Behind His Success
Country newcomer John Foster may be climbing the charts, but he says the real star of his story isn’t him — it’s his mother.
In an interview following a sold-out show in Dallas, the American Idol alum opened up about the woman who inspired every song he writes. “She believed in me before anyone else did,” Foster said. “We used to sit in the kitchen, singing to old George Strait songs and dreaming out loud. I think that’s where my heart for country music really started.”

Foster’s journey from a small-town dreamer to one of Nashville’s most talked-about new voices hasn’t been easy. He credits his mother for keeping him grounded through the whirlwind of fame. “She’s always said, ‘John, don’t let success change your soul,’” he shared. “And I try to live by that.”

The young singer says his upcoming single — fittingly titled “Carry Me Home” — is dedicated to her. “Every lyric in that song is a piece of her love. No matter where I go, she’s the melody I come back to.”
Foster may be the one standing in the spotlight, but in his words, “The light started shining long before the stage — it started with her.”
