Despite placing second on season 23 of “American Idol,” John Foster has had a busy music career since the show ended in May. Since then, Foster continues to tour the U.S., has released a few singles, including the fan-favorite, “Tell That Angel I Love Her,” and has performed at The Grand Ole Opry, the most legendary stage for country artists.
Most recently, Foster went back to doing what he loves — covering his favorite classic country singers with renditions of their most beloved hits. It took fans back to when Foster first auditioned for Idol with renditions of Alan Jackson and Conway Twitty tunes.
John Foster Wows Fans With His Cover of This Keith Whitley Classic
John Foster must have known that fans were missing hearing him sing renditions of classic country staples when he shared a video on Instagram covering a Keith Whitley song. The runner-up of season 23 of “American Idol” was seen performing Whitley’s 1988 country hit “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” while strumming his guitar.
Foster’s sound is pure country soul as he sang the lyrics to Whitley’s song. “Excuse the video quality, but I figured it’s been long enough since I posted a good old country gold cover,” he captioned his video.
It wasn’t long before fans flooded his comment section, admiring his warm, rich, and country twang vocals.
“John this is my absolute favorite Keith Whitley song! You do it so well! I’ll be listening to it over and over again! Thank you for putting it out for all your fans!” A comment read.
“I could listen to you for hours,” another fan wrote. “You bring tears to my eyes whenever I listen to you! You are so talented and such an amazing human. Don’t ever change,” a fan shared.
Foster ‘Made a Big Step’ in His Music Career
John Foster is making a name for himself in country music after his “American Idol” run. The 19 year old recently shared a major career update that will only help further his musical journey.
On Instagram, Foster revealed that he had purchased a tour bus, which will allow him to perform in more cities across the U.S.
“Hey y’all, it’s John Foster, and I have some very exciting news for y’all,” he began. “I made a big step in my musical journey, and I bought a tour bus, so now we’ll be able to visit more cities, see more people, and it’s all possible because of you.”
He continued, “Thank you so much for streaming my music, supporting me along this way, and hopefully we’ll be able to see you in your city soon.”
Foster also shared on Instagram that his song, “Little Goes A Long Way,” which he had been teasing on social media, will be released on Oct. 24. The song is already proving to win over fans thanks to its upbeat and playful country sound.
