Everyone Thought They Were Just Dating—Until Reba and Rex Revealed the Secret They’ve Been Keeping All Along 💫 ML

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn Secretly Got Engaged Months Before Their Emmy Night Reveal
Country icon Reba McEntire and actor Rex Linn have made it official — and in true Reba fashion, their big moment came with warmth, humor, and just a little bit of surprise.
The couple appeared radiant on September 14, 2025, as they walked hand-in-hand down the Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet. McEntire, 70, performed a musical tribute to The Golden Girls alongside Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town, honoring the 40th anniversary of the sitcom’s premiere.

But it wasn’t just Reba’s performance that caught attention that night. During an interview with E!’s Zuri Hall, the reporter casually introduced the couple as “Reba McEntire and her fiancé, Rex Linn.” The country superstar and her longtime partner smiled and nodded — quietly confirming what fans had long suspected.
What no one knew, however, was that the engagement wasn’t new at all.
In a new People magazine cover story, McEntire revealed that Rex actually proposed nine months earlier — on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024 — in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee.
“It was a total surprise,” Reba shared. “It had that perfect Rex Linn timing — very romantic, very thoughtful.”
The pair originally planned to share the happy news in January, but when devastating wildfires struck California, they decided to postpone the announcement out of respect. “The time never presented itself,” McEntire explained. “Until the Emmys — when it just happened.”
The engagement marks a beautiful new chapter for the couple, who met decades ago but reconnected in 2020 during the pandemic.
“I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn,” Reba said. “He’s so tender-hearted, and I just love him with all my heart.”
This will be Linn’s first marriage and McEntire’s third, but neither seems in any rush to set a date. “We’re just enjoying this time in our lives,” Reba said.

Between hosting The Voice, starring in Happy’s Place, and continuing her music career, McEntire’s life is as full as ever — and by her own admission, happier than it’s ever been.
“I think I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life,” she said. “It’s wonderful being 70 and doing what I love — with someone I love by my side.”
Catch Reba and Rex on Season 2 of Happy’s Place, premiering November 7, where — fittingly — their characters share a romantic storyline of their own.
