Did Dolly Parton Really Pull Her Music From Amazon, or Is the Viral Claim Missing Key Facts? ML

In December 2025, singer Dolly Parton announced she would pull all her music from Amazon, citing founder Jeff Bezos’ alignment with U.S. President Donald Trump.
In December 2025, a rumor circulated that singer Dolly Parton pulled all her music from Amazon streaming platforms, citing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ alignment with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The claim primarily spread on Facebook (archived, archived), where it racked up thousands of reactions. Snopes readers also emailed us to ask whether the rumor was true. One reader wrote, “This post about Dolly Parton removing her music from Amazon seems suspect. Please fact check.”

Facebook user @Tennessee Hearts posted a widely circulated image depicting Parton and Trump. The caption began:
“Wake up, Jeff.” — Dolly Parton suddenly announced that she would pull all of her music and charitable collaborations from Amazon, expressing deep concern about Jeff Bezos’ quiet alignment with former President T.r.u.m.p. The statement quickly turned into a public ultimatum that left both Bezos and the nation stunned.
Both the image of Parton and the claim about her pulling her music from Amazon were made up, though — likely for online engagement. There is no evidence Parton made such an announcement, and visual signifiers indicated the story was generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
A Google search of the keywords, “Dolly Parton ‘wake up Jeff,'” primarily revealed results related to the claim in question, not reports from reputable news media outlets:

Parton also did not make any such announcement on her social media platforms.
Rather, the person or people who authored the story fabricated the entire tale. They aimed to earn advertising revenue on websites linked from the aforementioned Facebook posts. The story about Parton removing her music from Amazon amounted to fiction.
The post linked to a story on the site “hoaus.feji.io,” not a legitimate news media site. As of this writing, her music and artist profile remained on the Amazon Music platform.
The image of Parton in the circulated post also contained signs of AI-generation. For example, the size of one of Parton’s front teeth appeared misaligned and disproportionate.

Snopes contacted a manager of the Facebook page to ask about the fictional stories displayed on the feed, and will update this story if we receive more information.
