Dak Prescott’s 5-Word Vow Just Changed Everything for the Cowboys.QQ

The Dallas Cowboys excelled against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, and pulled off a 44-22 win to improve to 3-3-1 this season.

It was the cherry on the top of a strong start where Dallas leads the NFL in total offense (390.6 yards per game), and the team is also No. 2 in scoring (31.7 points per game).

Against the Commanders, quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns with zero turnovers on 21 of 30 passing during the contest. Running back Javonte Williams ran for 116 yards and a score on 19 carries, and receiver CeeDee Lamb clocked 110 yards and a touchdown on five catches.

Fellow wide receiver George Pickens had 82 yards on four receptions, plus tight end Jake Ferguson caught two touchdowns.

Now, the Cowboys are heading to Denver to take on the Broncos on Sunday, and for Prescott, this meeting is personal. In 2017, his second year as the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, Prescott was looking to improve to 2-0 but the Cowboys ended up losing that matchup, falling 42-17 to the Broncos.

“That was one was probably one of the uglier games of my career for sure,” Prescott said, according to the Cowboys’ official website. “I remember the big rain delay or lightning delay early in the game, I remember Von Miller, Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, they had some guys. Definitely remember that one. Fresh, obviously, going back there.”

Today, Prescott comes into the Broncos game with more experience than he had as a second-year starting signal-caller. He’s also leading a team that ranks seventh in the league in third-down conversion rate this year at 44.05%, according to Team Rankings.

Prescott made a five-word promise about how the Cowboys will play on Sunday: “We’re going to be tough.”

Prescott also added: “You better be ready to come in and fight on all phases, we’re going to give you everything that we’ve got. Resilient group. More importantly, a group that trusts each other, that has each other’s back, and we’re going to do whatever it takes.”

What’s wild is that the only two teams Prescott hasn’t beaten in his career are the Bills and the Broncos. On Sunday, he can remedy one of them.

“Going up there, going to their place,” he said, “yeah this is one you definitely want to cross off when you’ve been playing 10 years or so and you get to see these people twice and multiple times, you’re trying to get all your wins.”
