Cubs Fans React After NLDS Elimination Loss to Brewers

MILWAUKEE — October 11, 2025. The Chicago Cubs’ 2025 postseason run came to a frustrating end on Saturday night, as they fell 3–1 to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the National League Division Series.

After battling back from an 0–2 deficit to force a winner-take-all finale, the Cubs’ offense went cold when it mattered most. The Brewers, behind a series of timely home runs and dominant bullpen work, advanced to the NLCS — leaving Cubs fans heartbroken and vocal online.

Game 5 Recap: Brewers’ Power Prevails

Veteran reliever Drew Pomeranz, making a remarkable comeback after missing three seasons due to elbow surgery, opened the game for Chicago. His storybook return was spoiled quickly when William Contreras launched a solo home run in the first inning.

Seiya Suzuki briefly reignited hope with a solo blast in the second, but Milwaukee answered back with two more long balls — from Andrew Vaughn and Brice Turang — to regain control. The Brewers’ bullpen combination of Jacob Misiorowski, Aaron Ashby, Chad Patrick, and Abner Uribe locked down the final innings, holding Chicago to just four hits and a single run.

A Silent Night for the Cubs’ Stars

The Cubs’ big bats couldn’t deliver in the clutch. Kyle Tucker, Ian Happ, and Pete Crow-Armstrong combined to go 0-for-11 with five strikeouts. Tucker, Chicago’s marquee offseason acquisition, finished the postseason with just one extra-base hit and one RBI in eight games.

“It’s a disappointing finish for a Chicago team that appeared ready for a deep postseason run,” noted ClutchPoints. “Unfortunately for Cubs fans, the club’s big bats were quiet Saturday.”

Cubs Fans Sound Off

As expected, fans took to social media to vent their frustrations — and their hopes for what comes next:

  • Alex Salvi wrote: “The silver lining in that loss is that it makes the decision easy for the front office: Let Tucker walk; move on from Happ. Spend on starting pitching and a couple big bats.”
  • Hector Campos added: “Ship Happ off to the moon. It’s time.”
  • Cheesehead commented: “PCA under the brightest of lights DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like a true MVP!!”
  • Nathan Stefanov fumed: “Kyle Tucker is gone. He is one of the worst players on this roster. 500M for what? He deserves absolutely nothing. He is the most noncompetitive low-leverage player in MLB.”
  • Yet, not all fans were ready to give up hope. Mayor of Barlow struck a more optimistic tone: “Disappointed? Sure. Proud of our boys? You bet!!! Looking forward to next year and the chapters to be written with this team.”

Looking Ahead

Despite the disappointment, the Cubs’ 2025 season showcased growth and resilience. A Wild Card victory and a near-upset in the NLDS suggest that Chicago’s young core — led by Pete Crow-Armstrong, Seiya Suzuki, and Christopher Morel — remains promising.

Still, the winter ahead will bring tough decisions. Re-signing Kyle Tucker could cost upward of $300 million, and with rotation help still needed, the Cubs’ front office faces a pivotal offseason.
