Saquon Barkley Didn’t Hold Back, Calling Out the Media After Another Frustrating Lack of Rushing Touches Against the Broncos

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley ran the ball six times for 30 yards in the team’s 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos.

All but one carry for zero yards came in the first half of the game.

After the loss, reporters questioned Barkley’s lack of touches, and he held back at first.

“I’m not going to really get too caught up in that,” Barkley said when asked by reporters why the Eagles went away from the ground game in the second half. “At the end of the day, whether we ran the ball enough or not, we had an opportunity to win a football game, and we didn’t. We didn’t do enough.”

It wasn’t too long after trying to keep his composure that Barkley got a little snippy when pressed more on his lack of touches and run game. Still calm, Barkley fired back at the media with how he really felt.

“I really don’t know what people want,” Barkley said. “If I touch the ball too much, sometimes we’re not throwing enough. We throw it too much, and I only have nine touches, it’s like … I’m not in the business of ‘What are we doing enough of?’ I’m in the business of winning football games, and we didn’t win the football game.”

It’s true. The Eagles are going to be criticized no matter what they do, just as they were for winning four straight football games to start the season.

But what is so frustrating to the media and fans alike is why the Eagles can’t have a complete game offensively when they’ve shown they have exactly what it takes to win pretty.

Saquon Barkley Credits Jalen Hurts for TD Pass

While Barkley and the Eagles did nothing on the ground, they had a solid game in the air.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts connected with Barkley on a wheel route for a beautiful 47-yard passing touchdown. Barkley told reporters that he and Hurts designed that play.
