Country music loyalists are dissecting every word because the King’s hint about a Texas concert next year doesn’t sound casual — it sounds intentional. ML
George Strait is amazing in so many ways. At 73, the King of Country is absolutely not slowing down. Sometimes, he even seems to be revving things up a few notches. In fact, Strait dropped some broad hints on
“>Instagram lately that he is prepping for a concert in his native Texas next year. His post showed a depiction of a highway with the caption, “Take Me to Texas.” The drawn image features a lonely landscape. There is an oil rig, a horse, and a sign that states, “”Next Exit 425 miles.” The highway cuts through barren territory.
It’s a little mysterious, but fans are definitely ready and clamoring to know more!
He appears primed for an event like that too. Per Music Row earlier this year, the beloved “Amarillo by Morning” singer said, “I keep trying to slow down a bit but you keep calling me back. Please don’t ever stop. I still love it just as much as I always have. Thank you for an amazing year last year and I can’t wait to see you for a few more again this year.,,Can’t wait to see you!!”
Strait’s Concerts Draw Huge, Enthusiastic Crowds
He sure knows how to get lots of people in the seats. Per the outlet, Strait had “the largest single ticketed concert in U.S. History and a new record for Texas A&M Kyle Field for a single event with 110,905 fans in attendance.” When you think of all the artists who tour and what this record means, that is very impressive. It’s a metric that sets a standard and proves Strait’s enduring, timeless popularity.
Performing Live Energizes the Superstar
Strait isn’t ready to hang up his mic yet. Per American Songwriter, he said during a show this year alongside Chris Stapleton, “I have maybe five good years to sing my songs for you folks. But hell, it’s been around 50 now and I still love it just as much as I ever did. When I hear ol’ John Michael say my name and I walk through those curtains and I see your smiling faces, my feet don’t touch the ground again until I walk back out and get on that bus.”
