Chiefs’ Charles Omenihu Faces Uncertain NFL Fallout After Shocking Dak Prescott Clash That Has Fans Talking.QQ

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys came out on top in their much-anticipated Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. Prescott willed his team to a hard-fought 31-28 victory with 27-of-39 completed passes for 320 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. It was a big win for the Cowboys, who have now marked three consecutive victories after taking down Patrick Mahomes and Co.

There was no shortage of action in Thursday’s contest. One of the more contentious moments in the game came early in the fourth quarter as the Cowboys scored their third touchdown of the day. The incident involved Prescott and will now be investigated by the NFL.

Earlier in the game, Prescott was seen complaining to the referee about a potential roughing the passer call. The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback took a hit from Chiefs rookie defensive end Ashton Gillotte in the second quarter as Prescott threw an incomplete pass. No flag was called on the play, but the league will review the incident, nonetheless.

Prescott did get a call in his favor later in the game. This was after Kansas City defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was flagged for a roughing the passer penalty in the fourth quarter. Omenihu went in hard on Prescott after the Cowboys QB threw a pass to wide receiver George Pickens for a successful two-point conversion. Dallas accepted the 15-yard penalty, moving the ensuing kickoff to the Chiefs’ 50-yard line.

According to the NFL’s rules, a roughing the passer penalty is defined as an unwarranted act against a player who is in a passing posture. It warrants an automatic 15-yard penalty.

The NFL’s Officiating Department will now review this incident for potential punishment. Depending on the results of the league’s investigation, Omenihu could be facing a potential fine of $17,389 for his first offense.

It is worth noting that this would not be Omenihu’s first punishment in his career. In 2019, he was fined $28,075 for a blindside block violation. In 2023, the Chiefs DL was suspended by the NFL for six games after a domestic violence incident.
