CeeDee Lamb Silences Doubters by Embracing George Pickens’ Rise as the Cowboys’ Next Breakout Star

With CeeDee Lamb sidelined, the Dallas Cowboys have needed and will continue to need George Pickens to play the type of football he can. In Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers, Pickens did just that and more, posting 134 yards on eight receptions. He also added two touchdowns for good measure.
Lamb is clearly the Cowboys‘ WR1, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, if Pickens continues to play at this ridiculous level, there might be an argument that he’ll be the guy Dallas looks to in big situations, just like in Week 4.
Regardless of how things unfold over the next few months, it doesn’t sound like Lamb has any jealousy. Instead, he wants his teammate to go out there and make the type of plays he has early on.
“That man don’t got to fit in, he stands out,” Lamb said, per The Athletic. “GP is a hell of a player, man. And there’s plenty more excitement where that’s coming from.”
Cowboys’ George Pickens Is Turning Heads
Lamb isn’t the only one who has been impressed with what Pickens has done for the Dallas Cowboys heading into Week 5. Star quarterback Dak Prescott, who has looked great this season with 1,119 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, finally got another star receiver to throw the football to.
For the Cowboys and Pickens, there were questions about how he’d look on the field. It wasn’t always because of his play, but more so due to his on-field actions at times. However, Prescott isn’t very surprised at all about how he’s played this year.
“No surprises, honestly,” Prescott said. “I’m super proud of him. He played (Sunday) just as I expected him to play. And what I was most impressed about is just the way that he was focused and locked in in the game, the whole game. And not only just locked in doing everything that he needed to do and do it right, but just the conversations he was having in the huddle. Uplifting other guys, saying the right things to keep guys focused and keep guys staying in the moment and being present. And not only was he saying it, he was doing it himself and being an example.
“And (he) made big play after play to give us a chance. … I’m not surprised at all. He did that all camp. He’s done that his whole career. And just having a guy like that, he’s going to do more of it.”
George Pickens Is Finding Stardom With the Cowboys
Pickens has trust in himself to be a star, which is more important than anything else. For the Dallas Cowboys to be elite offensively, they need Pickens to feel confident, stay level-headed, and have fun.
While still very early in the year, and hopefully his tenure in Dallas, everything has gone as well as anyone could hope for. That includes Pickens, who has confidence that should help him out moving forward.
“I’d probably just say being a great receiver,” he said. “Just no matter kinda where I go or where I land, me, myself, George Pickens is a great receiver. I feel like that’s what I’ve shown people.”
