Philadelphia Eagles’ No. 1 wide receiver A.J. Brown has made it clear with cryptic messages on social media that he isn’t happy with his lack of targets over the last eight weeks of the season.

And he made his frustration even clearer while speaking to The Athletic’s Brooks Kubena this week.

“I know everybody’s counting on me, that’s my thrill. Everybody knows the ball’s coming to me. I love that feeling. It’s a rush,” Brown told Kubena. “And that’s why it’s frustrating at times. And maybe people really misunderstand me as a player, but those feelings – that’s what I want. You may see a little frustration. It’s because I really want to contribute. … if I’m not getting the ball, obviously, it’s not as fun.”

In an offense full of weapons, Brown hasn’t been Jalen Hurts’ top target like he’s supposed to be. Brown has logged 29 catches on 51 targets and three scores so far this season.

A.J. Brown’s frustration remains a little confusing when his team is winning

Sure, his numbers have taken a dip, but the Eagles are still finding their offensive identity under first-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. It’s even more confusing since Brown is still fresh off a perfect outing against the Minnesota Vikings, when he hauled in four catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

If you ask head coach Nick Sirianni about the saga, Brown is acting totally fine behind the scenes.

“It’s been business as usual, really excited to get him back on the field,” Sirianni said. “I’ve almost forgot about what happened a couple of weeks ago, just working on ways to get better. You can only judge things off your interactions and how they are in the building, and AJ has been great in the building. I know he wants to get back out there and help us win football games.”

Brown’s frustration makes a little sense, but it’s hard to be mad when the team you play for is 6-2 heading into their bye week.

The Eagles and Brown still need to work things out over the long break. He also needs to take good care of that hamstring injury so he’s back for Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 10.
