It’s hard to overcome what happened on Sunday for the Green Bay Packers, with several players going down with injuries — including edge defender Micah Parsons, who’s believed to have suffered a torn ACL, knocking him out for the rest of the season.

However, at least there is one positive update out of all this. Wide receiver Christian Watson, who left the game with a chest injury, didn’t suffer any serious injury, according to NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport.

Watson should be back soon

It’s unclear if Watson can play as soon as Saturday, when the Packers face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. However, his presence down the stretch is key for the offense, and how opposing defenses try to defend it.

On Sunday, the Packers scored 23 points with Watson on the field and only three after he left.

Packers’ depth at wide receiver

With a healthy Watson, the Packers’ wide receiver room will be almost fully healthy — the only absence has been rookie third-round pick Savion Williams, still recovering from a foot injury.

Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, and Dontayvion Wicks are all healthy, and converted cornerback Bo Melton has frequently played wide receiver snaps as well.

Since Watson returned from an ACL injury he suffered in Week 18 last season, he’s been one of the most prolific and efficient wide receivers in football. He’s had 28 catches for 481 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Life won’t be easy without Micah Parsons, and right tackle Zach Tom might also miss some time. But having a healthy Watson in the mix is key to giving Green Bay a fighter’s chance down the stretch.

A second-round pick back in 2022, Watson signed a one-year extension with the Packers back in the offseason for $11 million. Now, he’s under contract through 2026.
