A stunning twist inside the NFC as a division rival quietly clears a smoother Super Bowl runway for the Eagles.QQ

The Eagles should be able to take care of business to finish the regular season.

Injuries are always the worst part of an NFL season. For the Washington Commanders, major regression and injuries have ravaged a season where the hopes were high following last year’s campaign. The Philadelphia Eagles have seen that firsthand as they also reside in the NFC East. For Philadelphia, the latest Jayden Daniels injury update could propel them to a couple of dominant wins to finish this season.

Commanders shut down QB Jayden Daniels for rest of season
Via Ian Rapoport, Washington will not play Jayden Daniels for the rest of this season. The Commanders have already been eliminated from playoff contention and want to play it smart with their franchise QB who has been banged up on multiple occasions this year. Daniels had not been cleared to play against the Eagles in Week 16.
This news affects the Eagles on multiple fronts. They play the Commanders twice in the final three weeks of the season. Facing veteran QB Marcus Mariota is much more palatable than Daniels’ skillset, even if Mariota has played well at times in his place. The preparation is notably different.
Philadelphia can clinch the NFC East title with one win in their final three games (or just one Dallas loss). Additionally, seeding at the top of the NFC is incredibly crowded. Every win is massive, and the Eagles will be heavily favorited in both of these upcoming matchups with Washington. Philly’s other game is against the Buffalo Bills, a much taller task.
The Eagles’ path to the Super Bowl gets dramatically clearer if they can carve out the top overall seed in the conference. The Rams are 11-3 and already clinched a playoff berth. They’re the favorites to earn that top spot, but the Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers are all within striking distance.
Regardless, Philly will be focused on clinching their spot in the postseason as soon as possible. Then, they can think about venues to get to the absolute or near the top of the NFC with some help from other squads around the conference.
