A Simple Costco Taste Test Turns Into a Reminder of Why Fans Adore Dolly Parton. ML

- Dolly Parton browsed Costco in a leather jumpsuit to find her new memoir and sample snacks.
- She tried a Kirkland Signature muffin and a clementine, two classic Costco finds.
- Costco stores are carrying her memoir just in time for holiday gifting.
Dolly Parton is no stranger to keeping a packed to-do list. Just listing off a few of the multi-hyphenate’s achievements—Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award-winner, theme park co-owner, Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree and one of Rolling Stone‘s 200 Greatest Singers of All Time—makes us tired. But somehow, the Queen of Country takes it all in stride.

Still, we’re sure even Dolly Parton needs an occasional on-the-go snack to refuel. And if a new Instagram reel from Costco is any indicator of the icon’s favorite sweet treats, we’re big fans of her choices.
While promoting her new memoir, Star of the Show: My Life on Stage, Parton took Costco followers on a hunt for her book in an actual Costco warehouse. “Here we are at Costco,” she says in the reel, “I bet they got my Star of the Show book—yay, Costco!”
Clad in a stunning one-piece leather jumpsuit (with metallic star accents, of course), Parton roams the aisles of a Costco, looking for her memoir, which was released in November 2025. “OK, I’m lookin’ for Star of the Show,” she says, “and there it is, a whole stack of them. You can get your Star of the Show at Costco!”

After walking through that enormous, concrete-floored warehouse, Parton stops at a snack table for an energizing treat. “Let’s see, that one looks good,” she says while grabbing a fresh-baked Kirkland Signature muffin from the table. “Can I have a little… is that a tangerine? Thank you!”
We’re guessing Parton’s “tangerine” is one of the easy-peel varieties of orange Costco sells, most likely clementines, which are also called Cuties, sweeties or Halos. The good news for 79-year-old Parton? Clementines are great for your health. One tiny clementine packs 60% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C along with 3 grams of fiber.1 And because the easy-to-peel snack comes with its own container (its peel), it’s a great fruit to carry as a snack, especially paired with some protein like a string cheese or some healthy nuts.

While we’re not sure which variety of Kirkland Signature muffin Parton picked, Costco sells fresh-baked muffins in flavors like blueberry, double chocolate and cinnamon chip, all of which are pretty tasty. Looking to add a bit of protein to your muffins? Try our High-Protein Lemon Blueberry Muffins or Banana Protein Muffins. But after a long day of working “9 to 5,” it’s also OK to skip the baking and opt for some freshly baked Costco muffin goodness.
Dolly fans were quick to chime in on Costco’s star-studded post, sharing their own love of the reel and its main character. “As if we could not love Costco any more,” one says. “They got Dolly to come in!”

“I think I’ve had a wonderful dream where Dolly and I went to Costco together,” writes another. Us, too. Us, too.
Yes, we know we may not run into Dolly Parton on our own Costco runs, but it’s fun to think of the country music icon shopping at her local warehouse club, looking glamorous as always. Here’s hoping one day, we look over and spot Parton herself shopping the best Costco deals right beside us.
