Dolly Parton Says She’s “Okay” After Sister Freida’s Prayer Request Causes Family Drama and Fan Panic
Fans around the world were thrown into confusion and concern this month when Freida Parton, the younger sister of country music icon Dolly Parton, took to social media to ask for prayers for the superstar’s health.
In her emotional post, the 68-year-old wrote, “Last night I was up all night praying for my sister Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
Within hours, the post exploded online, drawing thousands of reactions, shares, and comments from concerned fans. Many wondered if the beloved “Coat of Many Colors” singer was seriously ill.
Dolly, however, quickly reassured everyone — and in true Dolly fashion, she did it with humor.

In a now-viral Instagram video titled “I ain’t dead yet!”, the 79-year-old star appeared bright and smiling from the Grand Ole Opry stage. “Do I look sick to you?” she said playfully. “I appreciate your prayers — I can always use them — but I just wanted you to know that I’m okay.”
The lighthearted video put fans at ease but also reportedly caused some private frustration within the Parton family. “Her timing could not have been worse,” a family insider told National Examiner. “Freida meant well, but Dolly’s been under a lot of pressure managing her health and career.”
Freida later apologized publicly, saying she “overreacted” and “didn’t mean to scare anyone,” clarifying that Dolly was just “a little under the weather.”
The country legend recently postponed her Las Vegas residency shows until 2026 as she undergoes several medical procedures. Still, she continues to remain optimistic and grateful, thanking fans for their prayers while assuring them she’ll be back in the spotlight soon.
For now, Dolly’s message is simple: she’s resting, she’s laughing, and she’s far from done shining.
