The episode kicked off as normal, with the panelists going over their daily Hot Topics. This episode began with discussing the news that the Department of Justice told Donald Trump that he appears in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Whoopi Goldberg pointed out that Trump fans ‘don’t seem to be going away with this’ as ‘they want answers’ about the Epstein files.

Behar chimed in, only briefly, saying: “They do. And before we go on a hiatus – we have one more week after this.

“Am I allowed to say that?” she then asked production sarcastically.

Once she received approval, she said: “Before we go, I wanted to tell people that the tide is turning, and things are changing.”

After her brief interjection, fans stormed social media as they questioned why Behar wasn’t “addressing the elephant in the room.” One fan wrote: “When Joy was asking if she could mention the hiatus after tomorrow show, I was hoping she would address the elephant in the room. The White House actually releasing a statement about Joy #TheView”

“Joy is quiet today #TheView,” another wrote. “Imagine a president having nothing better to do but watch The View and reply to Joy Behar. WTF,” a third said.

This comes just one day after White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers sent an email to Entertainment Weekly saying: “Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and went on to claim that The View has “hit the lowest ratings” in recent years.

The statement added: “She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.”

The email was in response to a rant from Behar a day earlier, in which she said: “First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on January 6. Who was that again? That was not Obama,” Behar said, referencing the Capitol riot.

She added: “The thing about him is he’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy.”
