Dolly Parton Postpones Las Vegas Residency Due to Health Concerns
Las Vegas, September 29, 2025 — Legendary country music icon Dolly Parton has announced a temporary pause in her professional commitments as she faces ongoing health challenges. The 79-year-old singer, beloved worldwide for her voice and philanthropy, took to Instagram on September 29 to share the difficult news with fans.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” Parton wrote in the heartfelt post. She added that, under the advice of her medical team, she would not be able to rehearse for her upcoming Las Vegas residency as planned.
“In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” Parton explained, emphasizing her commitment to quality and her fans’ experience.
This update follows an earlier missed appearance at Dollywood, her beloved amusement park in Tennessee, on September 17. At that time, guests were informed via video message that the country superstar had been advised not to travel due to a kidney stone.
Beyond her entertainment commitments, Parton was also expected to attend the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ceremony to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award — an honor recognizing her decades of charitable work. Unfortunately, she had to decline the in-person appearance, citing the same ongoing health issues.
2025 has proven to be a deeply challenging year for Parton. In addition to her health complications, she endured a personal loss in March with the passing of her husband of 60 years — a profound heartbreak she has not publicly spoken about in great detail.
Yet, even in adversity, Parton’s optimism and humor continue to shine. “It must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeons!” she joked in her Instagram post, displaying her signature wit.
Fans can take comfort in knowing that this is not a retirement. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she reassured. The singer’s resilience and positivity remain unwavering as she takes this time to heal.
