The Eagles needed a big-time performance from their big-time players. In Week 7, their top dog stepped up when his team needed him with a picture-perfect performance, delivering a much-needed 28-22 win over the Vikings.
Jalen Hurts was lights-out, with a perfect 158.3 passer rating, throwing three touchdown passes, and racking up 326 yards through the air. He struck early and often, hitting his top targets with exceptional precision.
DeVonta Smith showed up massively, hauling in nine catches for 189 yards. A.J. Brown added two spectacular touchdown catches, plus another huge third-down catch to ice the game late in the fourth quarter. Nick Sirianni said after the game, “He’s always clutch.” And it’s hard to argue. Take away the last two games, Hurts consistently delivers wins when he finishes the game.
The closer delivers
It’s hard to argue otherwise. Even though Hurts might not always put up the flashiest numbers, all he does is find a way to win. On a day when the ground game struggled to get going, with just 45 total rushing yards on 23 carries, Hurts distributed the ball confidently and kept the offense in rhythm, putting the team on his back and throwing them to victory.
The normally stoic Hurts was fired up after the game, emphatically stating that they weren’t losing anymore. You can tell how much losing football games bothers him, and he wasn’t about to let it happen a third time.
In an era where most stars are focused on their numbers first and the team second, it’s refreshing to see a leader like Hurts who values winning above his own stats. He knows that his real value comes from his unselfish play and ability to win at all costs.
