Carrie Underwood Stuns Dove Awards Audience With Surprise Duet Featuring Ben Fuller — Watch the Emotional Moment.LC
Carrie Underwood surprised the crowd at the 2025 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards on Oct. 7. The country superstar joined Ben Fuller on stage to deliver a stirring rendition of “If It Was Up to Me.”
While they recorded and released the song this past summer, she was not a part of the lineup that was announced prior to the show.
Fuller announced his duet partner just before her part of the song came around. Underwood looked angelic in a strapless A-line white dress and matching heels.
“If it was up to me, I’d never taste the grace / That meets me where I am / Or meet the God who came and picked me up / And taught me how to stand / He always has a purpose / Through the joy and suffering / I’d be crazy not to trust Him with everything,” the country singer belts out before the two harmonize on the chorus.
Which Country Artists Performed at the 2025 Dove Awards?
In addition to Underwood, quite a few other country singers took the stage to perform throughout the night. It’s not surprising given country music’s affinity for the Christian music genre.

Fans were treated to a performance from Lady A, who took the stage to perform their song “I Run to You” as well as a medley of “I Saw the Light,” “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” with Vince Gill and Steven Curtis Chapman.
Jelly Roll and Brandon Lake also sang their collaboration “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
Not only was Jelly Roll a performer, but he took home a Dove award for his song with Lake. True to form, he delivered an impassioned acceptance speech, telling fans to “put faith on their feet and feet on their faith.”
For those who missed the performance, the 2025 Dove Awards will re-air in a special encore presentation on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7:30PM ET and 10:30PM ET on TBN.
